Find your collection day and how to set out trash, recycling and yard waste
Provided by: City of Raleigh Solid Waste Services (City of Raleigh)
The Raleigh Reuse web tool and app shows your household’s collection calendar, sends reminders, and answers “where does this go?” questions. City rules cover how and when to put carts out.
Ways to do it
Steps online (phone, tablet or computer)
- Open Raleigh Reuse and enter your address to see your collection calendar and set reminders.
- Search for an item to find out whether it goes in the recycling cart or somewhere else.
Good to know
- Carts go on the curb (not the street) the night before or by 6 a.m., at least 3 feet from cars, mailboxes and poles, with handles facing your house. Bring them in by 7 p.m. after collection.
- Dark green cart is trash (bagged). Blue cart is recycling (loose, never bagged). Bright green cart is yard waste.
- Yard waste: one cart, up to 15 biodegradable paper bags (25 lbs each), and up to 5 tied bundles of sticks (5 feet long, 50 lbs each). No plastic bags. Don’t put it out before noon the day before collection.
- Carts or yard waste put out too early or left out too long can bring a $50 citation.
- Residents with mobility issues may qualify for the Needs Assistance Program.
