Drop off yard waste or buy compost and mulch at the Yard Waste Center

Provided by: City of Raleigh Solid Waste Services (City of Raleigh)

The City’s Yard Waste Center turns yard waste into compost and mulch. You can drop off extra yard waste for a fee and buy compost, mulch and wood chips.

Ways to do it

• Yard Waste Center, 900 N. New Hope Road, Raleigh, NC 27610: https://raleighnc.gov/landfill-and-reuse/places/yard-waste-center (Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Saturday 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
• Solid Waste Services: call 919-996-3245

What you need

• A credit card (Visa or Mastercard) or debit card. The center is cashless.
• Your license plate number (asked at the scale house)

Good to know

• Cost: Prices vary by product and amount (for example, organic compost $10 to $30). Drop-off fees apply.
• You weigh in at the scale house when you arrive. Staff can’t help load or unload.
• No pallets, commercial loads, or loads larger than a single-axle utility trailer (5 by 8 by 2 feet).
• Hours can change for weather; Raleigh Reuse shows closures.
