Serve on a City board or commission
Provided by: City of Raleigh City Clerk’s Office (City of Raleigh)
Residents volunteer on City boards and commissions that advise City Council. Each board’s page lists its members, vacancies and how to apply.
Ways to do it
Steps online (phone, tablet or computer)
- Open the boards and commissions page.
- Choose a board that interests you to see its members, terms and vacancies.
- Follow that board’s “how to apply” instructions.
Good to know
- Who can use it: Requirements, including residency, vary by board. You can serve on at most two boards at a time.
- There’s no single application. Each board’s page explains how to apply. (A boards interest form on SeamlessDocs, listed in 2026 class materials, returned “page not found” in November 2026.)
- City Council appoints members at its regular meetings. Terms are usually two years, up to six consecutive years on one board.
