Report a problem on a State-maintained road (NCDOT)

Provided by: NC Department of Transportation (State of North Carolina)

NCDOT maintains about 80% of North Carolina’s public roads, including Interstates and U.S., N.C. and secondary (SR) routes, even inside Raleigh. Report problems on those roads to NCDOT.

Ways to do it

Steps online (phone, tablet or computer)

  1. Not sure who maintains the road? Open NCDOT’s Public Street Information map and click the road.
  2. For a State road, open NCDOT’s Report a Problem page and pick the problem type (potholes, drainage, guardrail, traffic light, signs, shoulder damage, debris or dead animals).
  3. Submit, and use “Get Status on a Reported Issue” to follow it.
