Wake County’s household hazardous waste facilities take residents’ paint, chemicals, batteries, fuel, fluorescent bulbs and similar items that shouldn’t go in the trash.

Good to know

• Who can use it: Wake County residents only. No business waste.
• South Wake: 6150 Old Smithfield Road, Apex (Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.). East Wake: 5051 Wendell Blvd., Wendell (Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.). North Wake: 9037 Deponie Drive, Raleigh.
• As of November 2026, North Wake is temporarily closed after fire damage, with a collection event there every Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Latex paint limit is 10 gallons. Dried-out latex paint can go in regular trash.
