Ways to do it
Good to know
- Who can use it: First-time homebuyers at or below 80% of area median income (for example, $74,100 for one person or $105,850 for a family of four, as of the last check).
- The Homebuyer Assistance Program offers up to $45,000 anywhere in Raleigh. The Enhanced program offers up to $60,000 in targeted areas, with a 10-year deed restriction.
- Steps: take the required homeownership class (DHIC), get pre-approved by an approved lender (the lender applies to the City for you), then find a home in Raleigh city limits.
- The City’s page lists two different maximum purchase prices for the traditional program ($389,500 and $384,750). Confirm the current limit with your lender or the City.
