What you need
- Your or your child’s shot record, if you have it
- Insurance or Medicaid card, if you have one
Steps by phone
- Call the location closest to you to make an appointment.
- Say which vaccines you or your child need (for example, the school-required shots for 7th grade).
- Ask what it will cost and whether you qualify for a lower-cost program.
Good to know
- Cost: There is a charge for most adult vaccines. Ask about costs and lower-cost programs for children when you book.
- North Carolina requires a Tdap booster and a meningococcal vaccine before 7th grade, and a meningococcal booster before 12th grade. Schools need a copy of the shot record.
- Wake County Public Health runs walk-in flu clinics each fall; check the immunizations page for this year’s dates. Questions go to immunizationoutreach@wake.gov or 919-250-4646.
- Vaccines needed for immigration require a visit to a civil surgeon first.
